Fìkh Kim-ăb

Fìkh Kim-ăb (/kim/ /ə̝b/ [accident] [result; outcome]) is a subtropical Small Town located in Yo̠lti̽l Parish, Wozqoěs District, within the Federation of Alveria.

The name Fìkh Kim-ăb is derived from the Constructi language, as Fìkh Kim-ăb was founded by Cä̋nvé̄y Ya̋chī 'Hamsy Hot' Séchīb Cûf̄ Cawmér Zlêbrg̈, who was culturaly Constructi.

Climate

Fìkh Kim-ăb has a yearly average temperature of 16°C (60°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a pleasant 24°C (75°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 8°C (46°F). Fìkh Kim-ăb receives an average of 305 cm/y (120 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Fìkh Kim-ăb covers an area of nearly 4 km² (1 mi²), and an average elevation of 2248 m (7375 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Fìkh Kim-ăb was founded durring the early 15th century in winter of the year 1419, by Cä̋nvé̄y Ya̋chī 'Hamsy Hot' Séchīb Cûf̄ Cawmér Zlêbrg̈. The establishment of Fìkh Kim-ăb was somewhat plagued by a lack of willing colonists, leading to Cä̋nvé̄y Ya̋chī 'Hamsy Hot' Séchīb Cûf̄ Cawmér Zlêbrg̈ electing to pay people to resettle in Fìkh Kim-ăb.

Fìkh Kim-ăb was built using the conventions of Constructi durring the early 15th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Fìkh Kim-ăb is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Fìkh Kim-ăb is buildings are arranged arround a network of crampt packed earth streets which form a grid, where each square verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller square has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town posesses a mighty albit amaturly crafted stone wall. It was built using querried stone blocks and posesses all of the standard defencive features, including a few watch towers. While it would last against a siege, the wall's outdated and simplistic construction method percludes the possability of Fìkh Kim-ăb weathering a full scale bombardment durring a siege. Fìkh Kim-ăb's budget focused millitary grade defenses are suffering from significent damage, so much so that examples can be pointed to no matter which section one might have within their line of site, and most of which render sections inoperable at present.

Fìkh Kim-ăb has the unmistakable air of a town on its last legs. Everything is a bit slipshod and ramshackle. Everyone is at work, or drinking. No one has anything in their eyes other than fear and despair. Fìkh Kim-ăb ’s existence was once fed by scholarly pursuits. But the income once drawn in by the works of scribes and academics has dried up and the town is drifting down the stream of history as it dries up. Everywhere about the town one can see abandoned schools, libraries, and other academic structures. Locals can be overheard having academic discussions, as well as talking about scholarly subjects in general. It’s quite clear the town places a lot of value on education and being a learned individual. Even in these times.

Civic Infrastructure

Fìkh Kim-ăb has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Fìkh Kim-ăb.

Fìkh Kim-ăb has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Fìkh Kim-ăb has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Fìkh Kim-ăb has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Fìkh Kim-ăb's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Fìkh Kim-ăb possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. These lights provide nighttime illumination to most city streets.

Fìkh Kim-ăb has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Fìkh Kim-ăb has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Fìkh Kim-ăb's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is famous for its stately symmetry, classical elements, and grand appearance. Columns and pillars, such as Corinthian columns, are often seen supporting open structures or porticos. Symmetry is an important feature of this style, with each half of a building mirroring the other. Domed ceilings and windows grace these buildings, with everything placed in a mathematical arrangement.

Due to the actions of local Kami, summer is recurring in Fìkh Kim-ăb.

The Herd Animal, Scythe Horn near Fìkh Kim-ăb are known to be quite timid.

Fìkh Kim-ăb's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves destroying a prepared ritual vessel to channel Chronomancy energies of tier 1 via chanting.

Economy

The following information was obtained via the Imperial Census Bureau as part of the Eyom Economic Outreach Program. It differs from Standard Imperial censuses in that many of Tom's citizens, regardless of culture, work in more than one occupation or hold more than a single job. Fìkh Kim-ăb's roads were poorly made when first laid. Rather than repairing them correctly, a series of new roads was laid atop the old, leading to the streets of modern Fìkh Kim-ăb suffering from potholes, cracking, and even sinkholes. The locals often repair the road by putting down wooden decking.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century the Kami ended a drought plaguing Fìkh Kim-ăb. One of Fìkh Kim-ăb's local festivals commemorates this miracle.
